Lizzie’s positive birth story
I carried out yoga with Lianna throughout my second and third trimesters. I loved the opportunity to learn different breathing techniques and to keep my body moving in preparation for childbirth. This was especially helpful as I experienced pelvic girdle pain (PGP). Lianna Tailored exercises for me so that it became more manageable, and over time, with yoga inside and outside of class, my pain resolved!
When my waters broke, there was unfortunately meconium, which led me to choose an induction. I spent the night in hospital, during which I used the breathing techniques I’d learnt in class during my contractions, which helped so much! The next morning, after a couple of hours in the second stage of labour, the decision was made to go to theatre for a successful forceps delivery.
Despite this, I felt in touch with my body throughout and continued to remain calm. This I feel, was linked to my yoga practice - ensuring I was as grounded and prepared for birth as I could possibly be.
Since having my baby, I have spent time with two of the other mums that I met at yoga! This has been an added bonus to all the other benefits I experienced during the months of classes.
