Hypnobirthing with Lianna
Feel calm, confident and in control of your birth
Birth can feel unpredictable. Even with the best preparation, there's uncertainty about how labour will unfold, how you'll cope with the intensity, and whether you'll feel in control when it matters most.
Uncertainty can stay with you throughout pregnancy, building anxiety, keeping you awake at night, and making it harder to feel excited about meeting your baby.
Hypnobirthing gives you practical tools to work with your body, not against it. You'll learn relaxation techniques, breathing exercises and mindset strategies that help you stay calm and confident, no matter how your birth unfolds.
What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing combines knowledge, relaxation and practical techniques to help you feel calm, supported and confident as you approach birth.
This complete antenatal programme equips you and your birth partner with the understanding and skills to create a positive birth experience. You'll gain the confidence to build positive relationships with your care providers, ensuring you feel listened to, supported and understood.
Hypnobirthing doesn't promise a "perfect" birth, but it does empower you to have a positive, confident and memorable birth experience.
What are the benefits of hypnobirthing?
For you
Reduced fear and anxiety
Hypnobirthing helps reframe birth from a painful event to a positive, natural process, which can significantly lessen fear, stress and anxiety.
Increased sense of control and confidence
You'll feel more in control and confident in your body's natural ability to give birth, empowering you to make informed decisions about your care.
Potential for reduced pain perception
By using deep relaxation, visualisation and breathing techniques, you can manage discomfort more effectively and may experience lower pain intensity, potentially reducing the need for pain relief.
Shorter labour
Studies suggest that hypnobirthing may be associated with a shorter duration of the first and second stages of labour.
Increased natural hormone production
The calm state promoted by hypnobirthing encourages the production of oxytocin (essential for labour progression) and endorphins (natural painkillers), while reducing the stress hormone adrenaline.
Faster postnatal recovery
A gentler birth experience may contribute to quicker physical recovery after birth.
Better sleep
By giving you the tools to relax deeply, you can improve your sleep quality.
For your baby
Calmer entry into the world
A relaxed mother means a calmer birthing environment for your baby, which can result in a more settled and better-adjusted newborn.
Fewer effects from medication
With potentially less need for medical interventions or pain relief drugs, babies are less likely to be sleepy or jittery at birth.
Enhanced early bonding
A positive birth experience can facilitate better and earlier bonding between you and your baby.
For your birth partner
Active and meaningful involvement
Your birth partner is given a clear, active role to provide support, perform massage and help with relaxation cues. This makes them feel more included and less like a helpless bystander.
Reduced anxiety
Understanding the birth process and how to help can alleviate your partner's own fears and anxieties about the birth.
Strengthened relationship
The collaborative approach and shared positive experience can deepen the bond between partners.
Benefits for everyone
Applicability to all births
The techniques are versatile and can be used regardless of birth location (home, hospital, birth centre) or type (vaginal, assisted or caesarean), helping to maintain a sense of calm even if plans change.
Lifelong skills
The breathing and relaxation techniques you learn are valuable life skills that can be used to manage stress and anxiety in everyday life, long after your baby is born.
Your hypnobirthing options
Every pregnancy is different, so I offer flexible ways to access hypnobirthing depending on your needs, schedule and how you like to learn.

The ideal time to join a hypnobirthing course is between 20 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. This gives you plenty of time to practise the techniques and for them to become second nature before labour begins, without leaving so much time that you forget the information.
-
While it's highly recommended that your birth partner attends, you can absolutely benefit from hypnobirthing on your own. The course gives your partner tools to actively support you, but the techniques are valuable for any birthing person.
-
Yes. Hypnobirthing is very helpful if you're planning a caesarean. The techniques are designed to help you feel calm, confident and in control, regardless of how your baby is born, transforming the experience into a positive and empowering one. I offer a caesarean-specific 3-hour course, workshop style if you require.
-
You might choose hypnobirthing if your primary goal is to learn deep relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques to stay calm and reduce the perception of pain during birth. While antenatal classes offer broad information on labour, birth and early parenthood, hypnobirthing focuses specifically on empowering you with mindset tools to feel more in control, confident and prepared to manage the physical and emotional aspects of childbirth, regardless of how the birth unfolds. Some people choose to do both for comprehensive preparation.
-
The full hypnobirthing course is approximately 6-8 hours as a complete education programme, depending on your needs. The longer course includes birth planning and optimal positioning for labour.
-
I also run hypnobirthing workshops. These are 3 hours in length and may be suitable for you if you've already completed antenatal classes and are looking for hypnobirthing as an extra, if you're short on time, or if you've completed hypnobirthing before but would like a refresher class. These workshops are £150, and you receive all MP3s and a PDF of the course booklet.

I recommend 10–15 minutes of daily practice. Even a short, consistent routine can significantly help you feel calm, focused and prepared for your birth.
