Pregnancy is a time of profound physical and emotional change. Your body is working incredibly hard, your hormones are shifting, and it's common to feel overwhelmed, anxious or simply exhausted.
Reiki offers a way to slow down, restore balance and support your wellbeing during this transformative time. It's a gentle, non-invasive form of energy healing that helps calm your nervous system, ease pregnancy discomfort and create space for deep relaxation.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that works with your body's natural energy to promote balance, relaxation and healing. During a session, I place my hands lightly on or just above your body, allowing healing energy to flow where it's needed most.
There's no manipulation, no pressure and nothing invasive. You remain fully clothed throughout, and most people describe the experience as deeply calming, like being wrapped in warmth and stillness.
Reiki works on a physical, emotional and energetic level, helping to release tension, reduce stress and support your body's natural ability to heal and restore itself.
Why is Reiki good for pregnancy?
Pregnancy can be physically demanding and emotionally intense. Reiki offers gentle support during this time, helping you feel more grounded, calm and connected to your body and your baby.

Reiki activates your parasympathetic nervous system - the part of your body responsible for rest and relaxation. This helps lower stress hormones, ease anxiety and create a sense of calm that benefits both you and your baby.

Many women find that Reiki helps with common pregnancy complaints like back pain, headaches, nausea and fatigue. Encouraging your body to relax, can help ease physical tension and discomfort.

Reiki sessions offer a quiet, mindful space to tune in and connect with your baby. Many women describe feeling more aware of their baby's presence and more bonded after a session.

By teaching your body to relax deeply, Reiki can help you feel more prepared for labour. The relaxation you practise during sessions is the same one you'll want to access during birth.

What to expect from a Reiki session with me

I'm trained to Reiki Level Two and have over 20 years of experience as a midwife. I understand the physical and emotional journey of pregnancy, and tailor each session to you, whether you have early pregnancy anxiety, third-trimester discomfort, or you’re in postnatal recovery.
When you arrive, I can make you a drink and you’ll have an opportunity to share how you are feeling. You'll lie down in a comfortable, peaceful space (I can provide cushions and bolsters to support your body and bump), and I'll guide you through the session, explaining everything.
You might feel warmth, tingling, or simply a deep sense of relaxation.
Some women drift off to sleep.
Others stay awake but enter a meditative, dream-like state. There's no right or wrong way to experience Reiki. Your body will take what it needs.
I’m gentle, intuitive and deeply respectful of your body and your experience. This is your time to rest, restore and reconnect.
After the session, you will have some time to integrate and feedback as well as snack on a sweet treat before you leave the space. It's common to feel calm, lighter and more centred. Some women notice physical shifts like eased tension, better sleep, and improved energy. Others notice emotional shifts towards feeling more grounded, less anxious, and more connected.

Yes. Reiki is completely safe throughout pregnancy. It's gentle, non-invasive and works with your body's natural healing processes. There are no contraindications, and sessions can be apted to your comfort at any stage of pregnancy.
