Sophie’s positive birth story

When I first started pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing classes with Lianna, my goal was to feel connected to my body and baby, build trust in my natural instincts, and gain practical tools to manage labor with calm, grounded confidence while keeping mobile.

Little did I know just how deeply those breathing techniques, active movements, and positive mindset practices would carry me through a fast, intense, and empowering delivery!

My labor started quietly around 10:00 PM with low back and leg waves. Throughout the early hours at home, staying mobile was key. I used my birth ball to rock through contractions and relied on my TENS machine to ease the deep aching sensations. Paired with the slow, rhythmic breathing and visualisations I practiced every week in yoga, staying grounded and holding a positive attitude allowed me to ride each wave rather than fight it.

After noticing my bloody show, my contractions ramped up, and I headed into hospital triage where I was checked at 3cm dilated. To help coax baby further down, the midwives suggested I go for a walk around the hospital before I could be admitted. Gravity and active movement worked like pure magic!

When I returned to triage, my labor shifted into high gear with incredible speed. A sudden powerful contraction caused my waters to go spontaneously triggering a textbook fetal ejection reflex. My body completely took over, instincts kicking in effortlessly but I remained confident in my body.

Using just gas and air, my TENS machine, and deep, low exhale breaths, I birthed my baby girl right there in triage! Active labor lasted around 1 hour and 7 minutes from 5cm to delivery.

Hypnobirthing and pregnancy yoga didn't just teach me how to breathe, they taught me to trust my body and stay positive.

Even when labor moved at lightning speed, my mind stayed calm, centered, and empowered. I am so grateful for the grounding foundation yoga with Lianna gave me to welcome my baby girl safely into the world!
