Sammie’s positive birth story
When I first got pregnant, I was most worried about the actual birth. I’d been told so many negative stories over the years, but I was adamant I didn't want to add another one to that collection.
Taking up yoga and exploring hypnobirthing really helped me to create space for myself and my baby, as well as connect with my body. I attended both of Lianna’s Pregnancy Yoga and Hypno YogaBirth classes. They made me lighter as I was able to share the talking points and guided relaxation at each session with other ladies in the small group who were going through similar experiences.
I honestly believe hypnobirthing was one of the main contributors to my positive story.
It gave me an understanding of the process the body goes through, breathing techniques for different stages and confidence in my body and decisions.
Labour was enjoyable and I had a sense of excitement for welcoming our baby into the world.
We tried for a water birth and even though it didn't go to plan, meaning we had to deliver out of the water, I was calm throughout with no pain relief apart from a bit of gas and air at the very end. It was the Hypnobirthing techniques that gave me a sense of calm when things weren't going to plan.
I would recommend both yoga and Hypnobirthing to all expectant mothers!
